Will Warner, a safety on the Drake University football team has been named the STATS FCS National Defensive Player of the Week following his record-setting performance in Saturday’s 13-10 win over Marist. The Pella, Iowa, native led another strong defensive effort that held Marist to fewer than 300 total yards of offense and negative nine yards rushing. Individually, he matched the Drake and PFL single-game record for interceptions in a game with three. Earlier this week, he was named the Pioneer Football League Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. On the season, he leads the nation in interceptions with eight and interception return yardage with 223 yards. His season interception total also ties the school record.
