The three-belt world heavyweight champion and the Prince both attended a Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey on March 9, a little over two weeks before it was revealed the heir to the throne has coronavirus. Joshua is currently still scheduled to defend his titles against Kubrat Pulev at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on June 20. His spokesperson told the Daily Mail: “AJ is at home following government guidelines, he is fit and well. “He wishes everyone affected a speedy recovery and a huge thank you to all the front line key workers.” The spokesperson did not say whether Joshua had been tested for the disease, which continues to shut down sport and communities across the world. Bob Arum, who is due to co-promote Tyson Fury’s third fight with Deontay Wilder this year, said on Wednesday the contest is “clearly not” going to happen in July, a delay which has potential knock-on effects on Joshua’s 2020 programme.Tags: Anthon y JoshuaCommonwealth DayKubrat PulevPrince Charleslast_img read more

Everton smash club transfer record as they sign Lukaku for £28m

first_imgEverton have signed Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku for a club-record fee of £28million. The Belgium international, who spent last season on loan at Goodison Park and was their leading scorer with 16 goals in 33 appearances to help them finish fifth, has agreed a five-year contract. Reports of the move began emerging in the 21-year-old’s homeland earlier on Wednesday and the striker tweeted a picture of himself on a plane with the message “Time to write a new chapter…..”. Press Associationcenter_img Lukaku was manager Roberto Martinez’s primary summer transfer target and while the fee may have blown their previous record – £15million for Lukaku’s compatriot Marouane Fellaini when he moved from Standard Liege in 2008 – the Toffees boss believes the striker’s age and potential mean it was worth paying. The press conference to unveil Lukaku was delayed by more than 80 minutes as Everton were still waiting for a final piece of the player’s paperwork to be returned to the club. last_img read more
