She said that when children grow up while being segregated from other communities issues arise when they join a university. The Office for National Unity and Reconciliation (ONUR) and the University Grants Commission today announced long term programmes and the introduction of a new module in universities to promote reconciliation.ONUR chairperson, former President Chandrika Kumaratunga said that recent incidents at universities in the North, East and South were as a result of some university children being educated in schools which focus purely on one religion. As a result ONUR and the University Grants Commission have decided to work together to promote reconciliation in the university. (Colombo Gazette)
