New Delhi, Jun 15 (PTI) As customers wait for prices to come down after GST implementation, automobile companies are wooing them with attractive limited period discounts of up to Rs 2.5 lakh across a range of vehicles sold in the country. Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Honda, Nissan, Mahindra and Mahindra and Ford India have all come out with different schemes that are valid for June only. Dealers of the countrys largest car maker, Maruti Suzuki, are offering discounts between Rs 25,000 and Rs 35,000. The highest discount is offered on its entry-level hatchback Alto. Similarly, M&M is offering benefits ranging between Rs 27,000 on Scorpio to Rs 90,000 on XUV500 till June 30. Hyundai Motor India dealers are offering discounts ranging between Rs 25,000 on Elite i20 and all-new Xcent to Rs 2.5 lakh on premium SUV SantaFe. Besides, it is offering discount of Rs 45,000 on entry level model Eon, up to Rs 73,000 on Grand i10 and Rs 90,000 on mid-sized sedan Verna. Honda Cars India, on the other hand, is offering up to Rs 14,500 discount on its hatchback Brio, Rs 50,000 on compact sedan Amaze, Rs 17,000 on premium hatchback Jazz and Rs 60,000 on B-RV under a special scheme valid during June. “We are giving price protection to the customers for cars retailed from June 10 to June 30 which means that customers will buy the car at pre-GST price now. Post GST implementation whatever the difference in ex-showroom price it will be returned back to the customer by the dealer,” a Honda Cars India spokesperson said. Ford India is offering discounts of up to Rs 30,000 on its compact SUV EcoSport, sedan Aspire and hatchback Figo to pass on benefits of new tax rates under GST. The company is offering discount on EcoSport in the range of Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000. On the other hand, Figo and Aspire are cheaper in the range of Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,000, depending on the variant. Japanese carmaker Nissans dealers are also offering benefits of up to Rs 80,000 on sports utility vehicle Terrano and around Rs 25,000 on small car Micra. Industry analysts said the companies have been forced to come up with the discounts as potential customers have held back on purchases expecting prices to come down after the implementation of GST. Under the GST rates, cars will attract the top rate of 28 per cent with a cess in the range of 1-15 per cent on top of it. While small petrol cars with engine less than 1,200 cc will attract 1 per cent cess, that with a diesel engine of less than 1,500 cc will attract 3 per cent cess. Large cars with engine greater than 1,500 cc and SUVs with length more than 4 metres and engine greater than 1,500 cc will attract a cess of 15 per cent. German luxury car maker Audi has already slashed prices of its models in India by up to Rs 10 lakh till June 30. Rival BMW also said it is offering “benefits up to 12 per cent” on ex-showroom prices that include GST benefits, depending on choice of the model. Besides, Mercedes Benz has announced reduction of prices of its vehicles produced in India by up to Rs 7 lakh. Tata-Motors owned Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has cut prices of select models by up to Rs 10.9 lakh with immediate effect to pass on benefits of new tax rates under GST. In the two-wheeler space, niche bike maker Royal Enfield is pre-emptively extending the GST benefits to its customers and is ready to implement the on-road price revision on purchases beginning June 17 on products where applicable. Chandigarh, Aug 16 (PTI) Two cops of Punjab police have won six medals in the ongoing World Police and Fire Games (WPFG) at Los Angeles, USA. Olympian and ace shooter Avneet Sidhu clinched one gold, one silver and two bronze medals in different rifle shooting competitions, said a release issued by Punjab government. Sidhu is posted as Deputy Superintendent of Police in Punjab. Assistant Inspector General in Punjab police, Ashish Kapoor won gold medals by trouncing his opponents in both singles and doubles titles, release said. Ashish has been All India Police champion in tennis singles events for the last 15 years. The WPEG games started from August 7 and would continue till August 17. These games are held after every two years in which officers or officials from police and fire departments from all over the world compete in the different events. Over 12,000 participants from across the world participated in the sports and fire fighting events during this year. Sidhu had won one gold and one silver medal in 18th Commonwealth Games 2006 held at Melbourne (Australia) and bronze medal in 15th Asian Games-2006 at Doha (Qatar). Kapoor made the country proud by winning medals for the consecutive fifth time since 2009 in these games. In 2009 at Vancouver, he had won bronze medal in tennis singles. The 32 fire personnel attached to the Santa Cruz Fire Station in St. Elizabeth are now serving the public from more comfortable and modern facilities. The fire station was recently refurbished at a cost of $14.7 million, through funding provided by the Ministry of Local Government and Community Development, with contributions from other public and private sources. Addressing the re-dedication ceremony for the building on Thursday, Acting Deputy Superintendent in charge of the fire station, Andrew Russell, informed that the upgrading, which started in January of this year, was carried out within budget. He said the scope of the project included demolition and removal of the existing timber roof, windows and doors; construction of new officers dormitory; expansion of existing kitchen space; building of reinforced concrete slab roof; repainting of the station building; complete rewiring of electrical network; and installation of new floor tiles, windows and doors, and plumbing fixtures. He said the work done was “the culmination of an important and eagerly awaited project, which will enrich the lives of the firefighters based there, boost their morale, enhance the delivery of service to the wider community and add value to the Jamaica Fire Brigade’s assets”. Minister of State for Local Government and Community Development, Hon. Colin Fagan, in his address at the ceremony, said it is appropriate that the refurbished facility is being opened during Local Government Month. He congratulated the firefighters for taking the initiative to start some of the work themselves, which he said, served as an inspiration for other stakeholders to support the project. “While funding was largely provided by the Ministry, through the St. Elizabeth Parish Council, I must acknowledge the input of those who partnered with us. This kind of partnership is a practical demonstration of our theme for Local Government and Community Development Month – Local Government on a mission together: Building better communities, he said. He gave a commitment that the Ministry “will do everything” to see to the completion of other necessary elements, such as security and landscaping, and urged the firefighters to take care of the facility.

TARGUSInfo also provides offline data, as it bases its data analysis by per household behaviors.Combined, this pool of data allows Jumptap to deliver a personalized ad experience for mobile users. Paran Johar, CMO of JumpTap, says that because there is such a limited amount of space for advertising in the mobile space, this kind of targeted campaign is mandatory to gain user focus. Mobile advertising network JumpTap has announced partnerships with Acxiom, Datalogix, Polk and TARGUSInfo in order to target specific demographics with mobile advertisements. “The consumer’s appetite for spam advertising on mobile is really diminished compared to other mediums. On the PC, you have six or seven ads; but with mobile, you have room for two at most. Consumers crave relevant ads,” says Johar.With a targeted demographic identified, it becomes easier to match ads with users. “This delivers a higher ROI for advertisers, a better user experience and for the publisher, and a higher yield for publishers, because we’re going to charge more for it,” says Johar.In April, JumpTap raised $25 million in a round of funding from AllianceBernstein, General Catalyst, Redpoint Ventures, Summerhill Ventures, Valhalla Partners and WPP. July 13, 2012 If you own a mobile device then you’ve probably heard of tech giant HTC Corp., the Taiwanese maker of tablets and smartphones such as the HTC Incredible, Thunderbolt and Evo 4G. You may be less familiar with Cher Wang, the 53-year-old woman who co-founded the company in 1997.Under her leadership, HTC has grown into one of the biggest players in mobile tech, partnering with Google and Microsoft to develop devices that are powered by their respective Android and Windows Phone operating systems. HTC has often been cited among the fastest-growing and most innovative brands in mobile.The daughter of former Taiwan management icon Y.C. Wang, she’s married to Chen Wen-Chi, president and CEO of Taiwan-based computer-hardware company VIA Technologies. Last year, the couple’s combined net worth was said to be about $8.8 billion.In an email interview, we discussed what’s helped Wang find success and how others can, too. Register Now » April 1, 2016 The U.S. Department of Defense is asking the hacker community for help.The Pentagon has launched a bug bounty program, which is a public challenge inviting hackers to find vulnerabilities in its computer systems in exchange for cash rewards. The Department of Defense has set aside $150,000 to pay hackers for any holes in the military’s cyber security system, according to a statement announcing the bug bounty program.Related: Meet the Middlemen Who Connect Hackers for Hire With Corporate America”This initiative will put the department’s cybersecurity to the test in an innovative but responsible way,” says Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter in the statement announcing the challenge. “I encourage hackers who want to bolster our digital defenses to join the competition and take their best shot.”This is the first public bug bounty program the U.S. government has ever run.Meanwhile, bug bounty programs are such a common practice at many of the largest tech companies in the country that there are a handful of companies that act as liaisons between the hacker community and these enterprises.
