Dharamsala, Ranchi among India’s six new Test venues

first_imgThe Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today announced the venues that will host India’s home season in the 2016-17. The board has named as many as six new Test venues. Rajkot, Visakhapatnam, Pune, Dharamsala, Ranchi and Indore will host Test matches against New Zealand, England, Bangladesh and Australia. The announcement comes after BCCI’s Tour Programme and Fixtures Committee met on Thursday in Mumbai. Bangladesh will be visit India for a one-off Test, their first ever in the country. The match will be played in Hyderabad and not at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens, as had been believed earlier. Australia, who last toured India for a Test series in 2013, will be here in February 2017 for a four-Test series which will be played in Bangalore, Dharamsala, Ranchi and Pune. Before that India will be playing three Tests vs New Zealand at Indore, Kanpur and Kolkata. Dharamsala, Delhi, Mohali, Ranchi and Vizag will host the five ODIs against New Zealand. Mohali, Rajkot, Mumbai, Vizag and Chennai have been selected to be the venues for the five-Test series against England.
