Man Utd keen to fill ‘chasm’ in team with 30-goal Serie A sensation

first_img Immobile is the top scorer in Serie A this season with 27 goals – six more than his nearest rival for the ‘Capocannoniere’ award, Cristiano Ronaldo. The 30-year-old has a phenomenal record for Lazio since joining them in 2016. So far, he has scored 116 goals in 167 appearances for the Rome-based side. This season, he has reached 30 goals in all competitions for the second time in his career. And that form has led to belief he could fill a “chasm” in Manchester United’s lineup. That’s according to, who claim that United are considering Immobile as a potential strike target. The Red Devils failed to replace Romelu Lukaku last summer, and could be looking for a new striker. Marcus Rashford has stepped up this season, while Odion Ighalo recently extended his loan until January 2021. However, Calciomercato believe that United could still try to add another option at centre-forward in the shape of Immobile.Advertisement Manchester United are interested in signing Ciro Immobile, but face a battle to convince the Lazio striker, according to reports in Italy. It may not be easy to prise him away from Lazio, however. The Italy international remains under contract until 2023 and is keen to stay in the capital, where he has found the most regularity of his career. The possible price tag of €50m would also raise doubts about the chances of the deal going through. No talks have begun between the two clubs yet, despite the real “appreciation”, the report adds. United are not the only club interested in Immobile, however. TEAMtalk revealed in April that Carlo Ancelotti is eager to take him to Everton, and would be willing to give up Moise Kean in a swap deal. read also:Serie A: Immobile nets hat-trick as Lazio thrash Sampdoria to keep title chase alive Kean is understood not to be part of Ancelotti’s plans, just one year after he was signed from Juventus. A return to Serie A could be on the cards for the youngster, with Lazio’s rivals Roma also interested. Inserting Kean into a potential bid for Immobile would help make Everton’s interest more affordable. However, they will face the same problems as United in trying to convince the player.
