first_imgNow in America they have a machine for slicing dough before it is baked, and this idea is rather novel. The ’Do Slicer’ passes the moulded dough piece to a cutting frame where 25 sickle-shaped knives revolve through slots in the frame. Melted fat is smeared automatically on the knife blades and this, coating the dough slices, prevents them sticking together again after baking. Thus the baked loaf holds together alright, but the individual slices can be taken from it one at a time.
